Edge Painting

Edge Painting

Ever wonder how the pages on your bible get shiny edges? There are a few steps leading up to this point: cutting, burnishing with wax, collating and pressing for a perfect edge. Then, the fun part! Painting! (Bonus, my daughter and husband are playing drums in the background of this video 😂)

Modern Zoo Invitations & Favors - Custom Letterpress

The invitations printed beautifully on pearl lettra with warm yellow ink.  We paired them with unassuming square flap Kraft colored envelopes, and finished the look with rounded corners to compliment the circular graphic.

These sweet girls had a zoo themed fourth birthday party last month.  I sketched on ideas for a couple of weeks, and came to this playful and classic circle of animal silhouettes.  The color palette was a sophisticated gold, cream, and pale green, so I wanted these to be modern and simple.

I was able to use the same plates from the invitations to print covers to create coloring book favors, also.  After folding and binding this great, FREE animal coloring book printable from National Geographic, I brought the pieces together and trimmed for perfect edges.

I am told the invitations were talked about for weeks, and I hope they are remembered for years to come.  I love being a part of events that bring loved ones together.

This project.  Oh my gosh, this project!  I loved every second of it!  My favorite client has beautiful twin daughters, just a few months older than my own little girl, and I have had the privilege of making something special for their birthday for three years now.  It is such a reward to have played a small continuing part of their memories, and to create for someone who understands and appreciates my passion for stationery.  How beautiful and surreal it was to see these lined up on every clean surface in my studio, as they were drying.  She sent me a few inspiration images, and we set out to design something that spoke the Frozen theme without becoming too commercial.  I think we did exactly that.
